3M and Sony on the lithium battery patent dispute settled


3M Company (MMM) Monday announced that in March this year for Sony and other companies filed a lithium VGP-BPS8, VGP-BPS8A battery cathode patent dispute settled.


Financial terms of the settlement agreement were not disclosed.


Under the agreement, Sony Corporation (SNE) and Sony Electronics has become the use of 3M lithium battery cathode technology licensed supplier.


Lithium batteries(VGP-BPS9, VGP-BPS9/B) are notebook computers, mobile phones and other portable electronic devices priority in the use of power.


East Japan Railway Company introduced hybrid engine, fuel efficiency can increase by 20%, while reducing carbon dioxide emission rate of nearly 60%, which is “environmentally friendly” train.


Hybrid engine, of course, environmental protection, but the cost is very expensive. KihaE200 cost of nearly 2 billion yen (about 1.7 million US dollars), is 2 times the cost of ordinary VGP-BPS9/S, VGP-BPS9A/B trains. However, experts still believe hybrid engine, and has broad prospects for development
